BUSINESS AND NON-INSTRUCTIONAL OPERATIONS
Gifts of equipment, materials or services, or cash which may enhance or enrich the work of the schools or its programs may be accepted by the school system from time to time. The Superintendent of Schools is authorized to make decisions regarding the acceptance or rejection of gifts to the school system or individual schools, keeping within the policy statement and guidelines.
1.Individuals or organizations desiring to contribute equipment, material, services or cash will initially consult with the building principal and then the Superintendent of Schools regarding the acceptability of such contributions in advance of the donation. Potential donors shall complete the appropriate form and receive approval therefore prior to making the donation.
2. Gifts of equipment or material that may involve major costs to the District for installation or maintenance, items requiring initial or continuing financial commitments from the education budget, a matching fund contribution, and/or which replaces a prior gift must be presented by the Superintendent of Schools to the Board of Education for action.
3.Equipment and material contributed to the schools becomes the property of the school system and is subject to the same controls and regulations that govern the use and disposal of other school-owned property.
4. A list of gifts accepted for school use and which do not require Board approval shall be reported to the Board of Education annually by the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee.
5. No gifts will be accepted that are inconsistent with the policies and mission of the schools. All gifts are subject to review prior to acceptance.
6. Public recognition for contributions received shall be appropriate and balanced.
