INSTRUCTION

PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT FOR TITLE I STUDENTS

Litchfield Public Schools Parent-School Compact

Parents, students, and staff within the Litchfield School District agree to share responsibility for improving student academic achievement. In furtherance of this agreement, these parties agree to the following:

I. The Litchfield School District shall be responsible for:

  • Providing high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables students in the Litchfield Public School's programs to meet state academic achievement standards;
  • Communicating with parents regarding their child's progress and providing timely information about programs, interventions, and assessment tools;
  • Encouraging ongoing communication between teachers and parents;
  • Educating staff about the importance of parental involvement;
  • Providing parent-teacher conferences during which the individual student's achievement is discussed in detail;
  • Providing frequent reports to parents on their child's progress;
  • Providing reasonable access to school staff;
  • Providing opportunities for parents to volunteer, participate in and observe their child's classroom activities; and,
  • Providing ongoing communication opportunities for staff and classroom teachers to discuss student progress and strategies for improvement.

II. Parents shall be responsible for:

  • Monitoring their child's attendance, health, and well-being;
  • Sending their children to school well-rested;
  • Monitoring their child's homework;
  • Encouraging positive use of their child's extracurricular time; and
  • Participating, as appropriate, in decisions relating to their child's education.

III. Students shall be responsible for:

  • Coming to class prepared with completed homework and class assignments;
  • Organizing their materials and supplies;
  • Writing their assignments in their assignment book daily;
  • Demonstrating a positive attitude toward learning; and
  • Applying their best effort each and every day.

IV. Teachers shall be responsible for:

  • Communicating with parents on an ongoing basis;
  • Participating in parent-teacher conferences as they relate to the individual student's achievement;
  • Providing frequent reports to parents on their child's progress;
  • Providing opportunities for parents to volunteer, participate, and observe their child's classroom activities; and
  • Communicating with other staff working students working with students receiving services, tiered interventions, and support programs regarding each individual student's achievement.
