GOAL   #  1

 

 

The Litchfield Public Schools will promote opportunities for all students to achieve at high standards.

 

 

TO ACCOMPLISH THIS GOAL THE DISTRICT WILL:

 

 

Ø    Provide learning opportunities and activities which develop and nurture the individual talents and interests of a diverse student population.

 

Ø    Align and streamline instruction and learning experiences to state, regional, and local educational priorities, initiatives, and curriculum frameworks.

 

Ø    Develop and implement organizational structure which provides a clearly articulated and cohesive PK-12 educational program with seamless transition from school to school. (Early childhood programs,, course of studies, schedule, teaching strategies, school culture, etc.).

 

Ø    Develop and implement policies, procedures and organizational    structures which promote student learning, health, safety, and citizenship.

 

Ø    Promote supplemental educational opportunities for students outside of the regular school day and schedule (i.e. before/after school programs, summer programs).

 

Ø    Develop, implement, and share an assessment and data collection framework that will create a context through which we can critically review student achievement, program success, and resource commitments.  

 

 

GOAL   #  2

 

 

The Litchfield Public Schools will enhance student learning through the use of a variety of media and technology resources for directed and independent learning activities. 

 

 

TO ACCOMPLISH THIS GOAL THE DISTRICT WILL:

 

 

Ø    Plan and implement a process for the systematic replacement and enhancement of educational technology.

 

Ø    Promote the safe and appropriate use of print media and educational technology as a tool to enhance and develop skills and competencies necessary to support education at all levels ( such as: on-line resources, incorporation of educational technology, increase access to computers, policies, security, etc).

 

Ø    Explore and promote new technical learning opportunities for students throughout the district.

 

 

GOAL   #  3

 

 

The Litchfield Public Schools will provide educational facilities and resources to accommodate and enhance quality educational programs and services in a safe, healthy, and secure environment.

 

                                                                   

TO ACCOMPLISH THIS GOAL THE DISTRICT WILL:

 

 

Ø    Provide facilities that will allow for flexibility to address the needs of students in educational activities.

 

Ø    Promote the safe and appropriate use of the district’s facilities, equipment, and resources.

 

Ø    Develop and implement an organizational structure with clearly defined policies and procedures to ensure that all district schools are safe, secure, well maintained, and clean.

 

 

 

GOAL   #  4

 

 

The Litchfield Public Schools will strive to enhance community interest, involvement, and support of the schools and their activities.

 

 

TO ACCOMPLISH THIS GOAL THE DISTRICT WILL:

 

 

Ø    Increase communication about school initiatives, accomplishments, plans, activities, and programs through the media, district website, newsletters, and other means as appropriate.

 

Ø    Increase communication and cooperation with established Litchfield organizations (such as: town and community boards, committees, and commissions) to promote quality educational programs and opportunities.

 

Ø    Promote opportunities for members of the community to be involved in school activities and explore ways to share school resource as feasible.

 

 

GOAL   #  5

 

The Litchfield Public Schools will actively participate in cooperative inter-district activities to promote enhanced student opportunities and to maximize resources.

 

 

TO ACCOMPLISH THIS GOAL THE DISTRICT WILL:

 

 

Ø    Coordinate inter-district/ inter-agency activities to maximize curricular, co-curricular, and extra-curricular opportunities for students and staff through the development of shared programs and resources.

 

Ø    Provide cooperative inter-district opportunities and experiences between Litchfield and other area educational entities.

 

Ø    Continually analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of shared opportunities and resources (facilities, equipment, transportation, training, recruitment, professional development, etc.)

 

 

 

GOAL   #  6

 

 

The Litchfield Public Schools will encourage a culture of professional excellence.

 

 

TO ACCOMPLISH THIS GOAL THE DISTRICT WILL:

 

 

Ø    Provide and promote quality professional development opportunities within the district and through external sources.

 

Ø    Recruit, select, and retain a highly qualified staff.

 

Ø    Provide opportunities for staff to align instruction and learning experiences to state, regional, and local educational priorities, initiatives, and curriculum frameworks.

 

Ø    Promote an atmosphere of professionalism, collegiality, sensitivity, and respect.

 

Ø    Provide ongoing opportunities for intra-district communication between and among staff members/administration ( such as: Leadership team, K-12 curriculum conversations, professional development, etc.).
