A special meeting of the Litchfield Board of
Education was held on Board Members Present: Mr. Shuhi, Chairperson; Mrs. Reardon; and Messrs. Tourtellotte, Falcetti, Fairchild, Noone and Gorman. Also Present: Dr. Vita and Dr. Breslin.
Board Chair Wayne Shuhi called
the meeting to order at
MOTION made by Mr. Gorman
and seconded by Mr. Fairchild:
to go into executive session at MOTION carried. All votes were in the affirmative. There were no abstentions. Open session resumed at
1.
MOTION made by Mr.
Gorman and seconded by Mrs. Reardon: that based
on the evidence in the record, and subject to the
following conditions, that Student B be expelled
from school, effective June 4, 2007 and continuing
through June 4, 2008, based on Student B’s conduct
in violating the Board’s Student Discipline policy
by offering for sale a controlled substance on
school grounds. The conditions of this expulsion are
indicated in the stipulated agreement herein.
a) During the period of expulsion, the Board (through the school administration) will assist Student B in making arrangements to complete her courses for the 2006-07 school year and for an alternative educational opportunity to continue an adult education high school educational experience. However, the Board of Education will not provide an alternative educational opportunity. b) During the period of his expulsion, Student B will not be permitted to be on school grounds and will not be permitted to attend or participate in any school-sponsored activities.

d) If the Administration determines that Student B should be readmitted to school early in accordance with the preceding section, and if Student B subsequently commits any offense that would warrant suspension and/or expulsion under the policies of the Litchfield Board of Education, then the Administration may reinstate Student B’s expulsion for the remainder of the expulsion period (through and including June 4, 2008), without the need for any further proceedings before the Litchfield Board of Education.

All information pertaining
to this expulsion shall be removed from Student B’s
confidential student record upon her graduation from
MOTION carried. Six votes were in the affirmative. Mr. Tourtellotte voted against the motion. There were no abstentions. MOTION made by Mrs. Reardon
and seconded by Mr. Fairchild: to adjourn the
meeting at MOTION carried. All votes were in the affirmative. There were no abstentions. Board Chair Shuhi declared the
