LITCHFIELD BOARD OF EDUCATION SPECIAL MEETING DECEMBER 20,

A special meeting of the Litchfield Board of Education was held on Thursday, December 20, 2007 at 6:00 p.m. in the Litchfield Intermediate School, central office conference room.
Board members present were: Mr. Katzin, Chairperson; Mrs. Reardon; Messrs. Falcetti, Gorman, Katzin, Noone, and Simone. Mr. Shuhi arrived at 6:18 p.m. Ms. Carr and Mr. Tourtellotte were absent. Executive Session MOTION made by Mr. Gorman and seconded by Mr. Noone: to go into Executive Session at 6:03 p.m. to discuss Personnel/HS Principal Search. MOTION carried. All votes were in the affirmative. There were no abstentions. Present were all board members and Dr. Vita. Open session resumed at 6:50 p.m. MOTION made by Mr. Falcetti and seconded by Mr. Simone: to offer Kirsten Della Volpe the position of LHS Principal as of January 28, 2008. MOTION carried. All votes were in the affirmative. There were no abstentions. Ms. Della Volpe was present and Mr. Katzin informed her of her appointment and welcomed her to Litchfield High School. The following sub-committee assignments have been made: Programs & Personnel Sub-Committee: Mrs. Reardon (chair), Mr. Shuhi and Ms. Carr Finance Sub-Committee: Mr. Noone (chair), Mr. Simone and Mr. Gorman Facilities & Technology Sub-Committee: Mr. Shuhi (chair), Mr. Noone and Mr. Tourtellotte Policy Sub-Committee: Ms. Carr (chair), Mrs. Reardon and Mr. Falcetti A walk-through of the buildings will be conducted in early January. Possible Policy Committee meeting on January 17th at 7 p.m. and a meeting with the Building Committee on January 17th at 8:30 p.m. Discussion was held on the make-up of the negotiations committee for the AFSCME contract. Mr. Katzin would like to be included and he will ask Ms. Carr if she would like to participate. Mr. Shuhi will be the third member. Tentative date and time for meeting, Wednesday, January 9, 2008 at 7 p.m. MOTION made by Mr. Simone and seconded by Mr. Gorman: to adjourn the meeting at 7:12 p.m. MOTION carried.
