LITCHFIELD BOARD OF EDUCATIONSPECIAL MEETING MARCH 3, 2005 |

A special meeting of the Litchfield Board of Education was held on Thursday, March 3, 2005, at 7:00 p.m. in the Intermediate School Library.
Present were: Mrs. Knox, Chairperson; Messrs. Costa, Simone, Falcetti, and Shuhi. Also present, J. Chittum, Dr. Stuhlman, Dr. Breslin, P. Perusse, Litchfield School Building Committee members, Herbert S. Newman and Partners (architects) and O&G Industries (construction management firm), public and press.
Hear Presentation from Herbert S. Newman Partners and O & G concerning final plans and professional cost estimates and take any action deemed necessary:
Plans showing new additions were presented; 9-12 science wing; 7&8th grade wing added at LHS; gym will be renovated; separation of 7&8th grade from 9-12 classroom core; LIS – new food service and library area; LHS – new guidance and administration centered; 2 new courtyard areas; minor site work for parking; LIS – café, kitchen, library new areas were located close to administration; new classroom ceilings; removing floors; replace classroom windows; changing ventilation in classrooms; state expansion and a new left entrance; a lobby and 2 bathrooms added for fields being created.
Cost Estimates:
MOTION made by J. Costa and seconded by W. Shuhi: that the Litchfield Board of Education approve the final Design Development plans dated December 20, 2004 and modified March 2, 2005 and the Professional Cost Estimates dated March 2, 2005 for the school building project Litchfield Middle/High School, State Project Number 074-0034 EA.
MOTION carried. All votes were in the affirmative. There were no abstentions.
MOTION made by J. Costa and seconded by W. Shuhi: that the Litchfield Board of Education approve the final Design Development plans dated December 20, 2004 and modified March 2, 2005 and the Professional Cost Estimates dated March 2, 2005 for the school building project Litchfield Intermediate School, State Project Number 074-0035 EA/RR.
MOTION carried. All votes were in the affirmative. There were no abstentions.
MOTION made by Frank Simone and seconded by Don Falcetti: to adjourn the meeting at 8:15 p.m.
