A special meeting of the Litchfield Board of Education was held on Monday, March 28, 2005, at 7:00 p.m. in the Center School gym.
Present were: Mrs. Knox, Chairperson; Mrs. Reardon; Messrs. Costa, Doyle, Fairchild, Falcetti, Noone, Shuhi, and Simone and Superintendent Chittum.
Discussion and vote on the Board of Education 2005-2006 Proposed Budget:
Board discussed possible ways of cutting budget percentage increase; activity fees in addition to sports; Language Arts Coordinator; part time positions at LHS; change in LHS scheduling; class sizes at LHS; cutting back graduation requirements; reading recovery position; art, language arts, have unexpended funds.
MOTION made by W. Shuhi and seconded by F. Simone: that the Board of Education present to the Board of Finance a 2005-06 budget not to exceed 4%, a total of $14,323,563.
MOTION carried. Mrs. Reardon and Messrs. Costa, Doyle, Fairchild, Falcetti, Noone, Shuhi and Simone voted aye. Mrs. Knox abstained.
MOTION made by F. Simone and seconded by J. Costa: to adjourn the meeting at 8:03 p.m.
MOTION carried. All votes were in the affirmative. There were no abstentions.
