POSSESSION OF FIREARMS OR WEAPONS ON SCHOOL PROPERTY

Litchfield Board of Education prohibits the possession of firearms, facsimiles of firearms, Tasers, deadly weapons, dangerous instruments, martial arts weapons or any other weapons capable of producing serious bodily harm or death, in any District building, site or vehicle; or at any event sponsored by the Board of Education, regardless of location and regardless of possession of a permit.

Any person in violation of this policy shall be removed from any District building, site, vehicle or event, and may also be reported to local law enforcement officials.

This policy shall not apply to peace officers, as defined by C.G.S. § 53a-3(9), in the performance of such peace officer's official duties, who are called to any District building, site, vehicle or event, or to any public school security officers employed or retained by the District.

Use for education purposes, such as a play prop or classroom demonstration, may be an exception only with the express prior written approval of the Superintendent.
