In situations where knowledge and/or technical skills are needed, that cannot be supplied by regular staff positions, technical and consultant assistance will be considered as one alternative for providing the desired service. The service to be provided will be carefully planned consistent with budget appropriations and related budget implementation procedures. The selection of consultant and technical resources will include criteria of background, professional standing in the field, knowledge and quality of past performance as related to the requirements needed for the task to be performed. All services provided in this manner will be evaluated during the progress of, and upon the completion of, the assignment.
The administrative and supervisory staff of the Litchfield schools shall encourage the use of professional consultants from the state department of education, colleges, universities and other sources, when members of the staff feel such consultative services will be helpful in the improvement of the instructional program in the Litchfield School System. All consultants shall be approved by the superintendent prior to the invitation and arrangement for visitation by such person or persons to the school system.
The Superintendent shall keep the Board of Education apprised of the hiring of any consultant providing services for the district.
