Nurse's Page
"The school nurse provides health care to students and staff, performs health screenings and coordinates referrals to the medical home or private healthcare provider. The school nurse serves as a liaison between school personnel, family, community and healthcare providers to advocate for health care and a healthy school environment. " (National Association of School Nurses / American Nurses Association [NASN / ANA], 2005).
Health and learning go hand in hand. The school nurse has a multi-faceted role within the school setting; one that supports the physical, mental, emotional, and social health of our students while supporting the academic success of the student population.
Hello and Welcome!
My name is Tina Cordani and I am a Registered Nurse. Your child may come to know me as “Ms. C.” I have been a nurse for 25 years working in South Carolina before returning to Connecticut. As a registered nurse, I have worked in different capacities, predominately with neonatal and pediatric populations, but also as a triage nurse in a large teaching hospital in South Carolina. I now have the privilege of caring for the children and staff here at Litchfield Intermediate School.
School nursing is a unique and specialized practice of professional nursing that advances the well-being, academic success, and life-long achievement of students.School nurses provide services to the entire school population: children with special needs, typical well children, school staff, and the community.
Please do not hesitate to contact me for any questions, concerns, or problems.
