Nurse's Page
"The school nurse provides health care to students and staff, performs health screenings and coordinates referrals to the medical home or private healthcare provider. The school nurse serves as a liaison between school personnel, family, community and healthcare providers to advocate for health care and a healthy school environment. " (National Association of School Nurses / American Nurses Association [NASN / ANA], 2005).
Health and learning go hand in hand. The school nurse has a multi-faceted role within the school setting; one that supports the physical, mental, emotional, and social health of our students while supporting the academic success of the student population.
Dear Center School Parents,
My name is Beth DeFiore, and I am a Registered Nurse. Your child may come to know me as “Mrs. D.” I have been the nurse serving the students and staff at Center School since 2004. I have a unique position as a health care provider in an academic setting. School nursing is a specialized practice of professional nursing that advances the well-being, academic success, and life-long achievement of students. School nurses provide services to the entire school population, including preschoolers, children with special needs, typical well children, school staff, and the community.
