SummerFest is a summer enrichment program for students enrolled in LPS and RSD6. The program typically runs for the month of July and is staffed by teachers and staff from the both districts. Featuring academic enrichment and camp-style activities, SummerFest is a great way for children to engage with their peers.

SummerFest is at no cost to families! Students may register for any or all of the weekly sessions.  Weekly enrollment will be capped to ensure appropriate ratios of staff to students.

A Typical Day

The SummerFest day begins with approximately three hours of academic review and instruction led by a certified teacher in classes grouped by grade level. Language arts and mathematics enrichment activities will be offered.

After lunch, we offer camp-style activity sessions. Outdoor games, arts & crafts, team building activities, board games, creative play, facilitated by our enrichment staff and student counselors.

SummerFest may have theme days like Super Heroes or Farm Week. In addition, we offer special guest presenters, shows, and field trips to local nature preserves.

For our middle schoolers, key areas of focus may include STEM, AgriSci, Action & Adventure, and Culinary.

SummerFest hours are 9:00am to 3:00pm.

Academics at SummerFest

Students retain important concepts and skills from the school year, math academics will focus on consolidating and solidifying their understanding of various concepts and skills related to major work of the grade.  Students will also continue to work towards fluency goals of the grade.  Each of these concepts, skills, and fluency goals are dependent on grade level standards.

Academic programming provides instruction in literacy and mathematics to develop and maintain skills, practice effective learning strategies, and increase abilities in a welcoming and fun-filled environment. In English language arts, emphasis is placed on language-based skills including phonemic awareness and phonics, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, and writing. This is done through high-interest book clubs, journaling during nature walks, small group play-based activities, and interdisciplinary learning with connections to social studies and fine arts.
